It appears that Canadians recently learned that Canada is not everything they thought it was, and it’s shaken many of them to the core. With the recent discovery of now over 1,000 bodies in unmarked graves at former residential schools across the country, people have awakened from what could be called a severe case of historic amnesia.

Last week, I posed this question to Manitoba Health: “If Manitoba had the same ratio of population to ICUs as North Dakota, there would be over 400 ICUs in Manitoba instead of 72. Do you know why Manitoba numbers of available ICUs varies so much from North Dakota?”

Every so often, a comment or a letter comes along that’s a bit discouraging. We have received a lot of letters lately and most have been very well thought out and reasonably well composed. In addition, we also get a large number of submitted columns. We don’t have room for many submitted pieces but we try our very best. We have to make decisions, right or wrong, we have to make decisions.
