Dauphin defeats Neepawa in pre-season play

The Neepawa Natives have dropped to 1-2 on the MJHL pre-season, after being upended Sunday night by the Dauphin Kings 5-2. Neepawa jumped out to a 2-0 lead by the middle of the second period before Dauphin charged back with five unanswered goals to seal the victory. The next game for the Natives is Tuesday night at the Yellowhead Centre against the Portage Terriers.

There’s a renewed sense of determination in the voice of Neepawa Natives Head Coach Dwayne Kirkup, as the team prepares for the new MJHL season. The 26th installment of training camp for the junior hockey franchise opened on Friday, Aug 29 with the prospect evaluations.

On Aug. 26 the largest-ever team of Manitoba senior athletes will venture to Alberta to prove you're never too old for fun and games. This year the biannual Canada 55+ Games will be hosted by Strathcona County from Aug. 27-30. The Canada 55+ Games is a first-class sporting event that brings together more than 2,000 senior athletes from all over the nation for healthy competition and social camaraderie. Of the 155 athletes on Team Manitoba, four come from Rivers! Dennis and Maxine Veitch and Al and Donna Morken will be in Alberta to compete in a curling bonspiel.

Rivedale Golf and Country Club President
Rivedale Golf and Country Club is a non-profit corporation that operates our local golf course. Management of the course is handled by a volunteer board of directors. Gayle Bullee operates the clubhouse and canteen. Brian Robins handles course maintenance, with assistance from his grandson Quinn Robins and neighbour Michael McFadden.
