The recent warm weather has allowed golf enthusiasts to get back out on the greens, as the Neepawa Golf & Country Club (NGCC) has opened for the summer. Early on, the cooler conditions across the region did not make a round of 18 that much of a pleasurable experience, but CPGA head golf professional for the NGCC, Landon Cameron, said that the weather is finally starting to cooperate. Cameron said that has allowed the course to come into form a bit quicker than usual.

The Neepawa Tigers varsity baseball and fast-pitch teams have each started the Zone Seven regular seasons with victories on Tuesday, Apr. 26, though they earned those W’s in very different ways. The girls team cruised to a comfortable 16-5 win over the William Morton (Gladstone) Warriors, while the boy’s side had to sweat out a dramatic 12-11 come from behind victory over the Warriors.

Neepawa Natives host coach’s meet and greet

The faithful fans of the Neepawa Natives came out en masse to meet the team’s new head coach. The Junior ‘A’ club hosted a meet and greet with Dustin Howden on Tuesday, Apr. 26 at Chicken Corral. A large number of season ticket holders came out to speak with the new bench boss and get an update on the preparations for the 2016-2017 MJHL season.

Lina Gordon of the NACI Tigers has been honoured as Basketball Manitoba’s AAfemale player of the year. The senior received the prestigious award on Saturday, Apr. 16 at the Basketball Manitoba Awards banquet in Winnipeg. It was a part of a full weekend of festivities, which included several basketball games, featuring the boys and girls A - AAA and AAAA graduating all-stars.
