Logan Enns of Boxe Neepawa returned to the ring this past weekend, losing a close decision to Owen Flett of Brandon. The bout, which was part of the Peak Performance and Athletics boxing event, was held at the CanadInns Roadhouse. The night featured the junior exhibition card and the senior card, which involved professional boxers from across western Canada.
Six Manitobans selected in NHL draft

A half dozen Manitoba born players have been selected in the 2016 National Hockey League (NHL) draft. Brett Howden of Oakbank was the first and only provincial player to be selected in the first round on Friday, June 24, being picked up by the Tampa Bay Lightning with the 27th overall pick. The 18-year-old played with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League last year.

A student from Neepawa Area Collegiate Institute (NACI) has been recognized for her exceptional skills on both the playing field and in the classroom. On Thursday, June 23, Danielle Hanke was one of just four students from across the province to receive the Credit Unions of Manitoba Scholar Athlete Award. This scholarship is awarded to students who are able to maintain a minimum of 85 per cent average and participate in at least two interscholastic high school athletic activities.
