An impressive on-field effort by the Neepawa Tigers and Southwest/Souris Sabres on Friday, Oct. 14, was not rewarded with a win for either team, as the game ended in a 22-22 tie. The Tigers returned home hoping to bounce back from a two game losing streak, while the Sabres were looking to gain some ground on Moosomin and Dauphin in the Rural Manitoba Football League standings.

The strong start to the 2016-2017 Manitoba Midget Hockey League (MMHL) regular season continued for the Yellowhead Chiefs, as the boys team won a pair of games last weekend. The first victory came against the Southwest Cougars, during Yellowhead’s home opener at Shoal Lake, on Friday, Oct. 7. Mackenzie Belinski scored a pair of goals and added an assist to help lead the Chiefs to a 6-5 win.

The Neepawa Natives closed out a gruelling section of their regular season schedule on Sunday, Oct. 9, with a solid 2-0 victory over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. The game was Neepawa’s fourth in five day and came less than 24 hours after a trip to Steinbach to take on the unbeaten Pistons. Sunday night's tilt was also the first of those four contests to be played at home, after the team accumulated a combined 1102 kilometres on the bus this week (282 km to & from Dauphin, 302 km to & from Virden and 518 km to & from Steinbach)

The Neepawa Natives outshot, outskated and generally outplayed the Virden Oil Capitals at Tundra Oil & Gas Place on Thursday, Oct.6. Despite that exceptional effort, Neepawa still found itself on the wrong end of a 1-0 result. Nobody ever said life was fair, neither is hockey.
