A three goal effort from Reigan Buchanan, coupled with a four point night from Nolan Richards (two goals - two assists), helped to lift the Neepawa Natives to their fifth win in their last six games (5-0-1). Their latest triumph was a 5-3 victory over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on Wednesday, Feb. 22. A hat trick, a penalty shot, an altercation between a player and a fan and a police presence to close out the evening. Welcome to playoff hockey in the Tiger Hills Hockey League. While cooler heads ultimately prevailed, it’s still fair to say that if the entire best-of-seven series between the Neepawa Farmers and Cartwright Clippers is anything like game one, it’ll be one for the ages.

A monumental effort by the entire NACI Tigers came up just a bit short on Saturday, Feb. 11, falling in overtime to the Virden Golden Bears 5-4, in the Westman High School Hockey League. This game was a huge one for both teams, as the winner would jump into sixth place in the standings, while the loser would end up in the eighth spot heading into the playoffs. The night started with some exciting back and forth action, as Tysne Stanski and Alex Woloski scored early for the Tigers. Virden potted three goals of their own in the first 20 minutes to take the lead.
