The Yellowhead Female Midget Chiefs and Eastman Selects played game five of their MFMHL quarter final series on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Shoal Lake Communiplex before a large and loud crowd of supporters for both teams.

A trifecta of basketball titles have been claimed by the NACI Tigers. On Tuesday, Feb. 21, the junior varsity boys squad capped off a solid season with an equally impressive 59-45 win over the William Morton Warriors. The next day, the varsity boys and girls would also pick up zone championship banners, with 68-59 and 54-45 victories respectively.
Neepawa Farmers eliminate Cartwright in dramatic fashion

An amazing offensive push in the final few minutes of the third period has propelled the Neepawa Farmers into the next round of the Tiger Hills Hockey League playoffs. Lance Nugent scored a pair of goals in the final 1:49 to lift the Farmers to a 3-2 win over the Cartwright Clippers on Saturday, Feb. 25. This late comeback gave Neepawa a four games to one series victory.

Sam Stewart named MJHL rookie all-star

A member of the Neepawa Natives has been honoured as part of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s top young players, as defencemen Sam Stewart was selected to the rookie all-star team.

The playoffs begin this weekend in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League. The Yellowhead Chiefs head into the post season having compiled the second best regular season record in the league (30-6-1-7. 68 points) and will face the seventh ranked Central Plains Capitals in the first round. Game one of this best-of-seven series begins at the Shoal Lake Communiplex on Friday, Feb. 24. Game two will be on Sunday, Feb. 26 in Portage la Prairie.
