Neepawa Figure Skating Club prepare for Annual Christmas Show

The Neepawa Figure Skating Club has scheduled its annual Christmas Show on Sunday, Dec. 17 at the Yellowhead Arena.

The Neepawa Figure Skating Club (NFSC) is now in full swing and is getting ready for the upcoming Annual Christmas Ice Show.
This season, the club features 24 StarSkaters who skate Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with coaches Cynthia Chartrand and Kim Smith. The season has started off strong with a fabulous skate from Zoie Forgue at the Manitoba Sectional Skating Championships in November in Virden with a ninth place finish.

On March 3, 1949, the Neepawa Intermediates down Dauphin 7-5 on the road to enter the Semi-finals of the 1948-49 Manitoba Championship. The scoring summary showed that Roy Bell opened the scoring in the first period and netted two more in the second frame to provide a hat trick in Neepawa's advancement along the playoff trail. There were almost 1,900 fans out for the game, 500 on a special train from Dauphin.

Neepawa Natives lose five straight

Heading into the MJHL Showcase in Winnipeg, the Neepawa Natives (14-17-2. 30 points) are on a five game losing streak, albeit against some stellar competition. Still, the Natives have found themselves winless in December and barely holding on to the final playoff spot in the standings.

On Saturday Nov. 25, 18-year-old Taylor Allen of Neepawa was awarded the Eugene Michelow Bursary award by Softball Manitoba. The prize is distributed to worthy athletes pursuing their post-secondary education. Allen is currently attending the University of Minnesota-Crookston and is a member of the U of M Crookston Golden Eagles softball team.
Gladstone surpasses Neepawa in Tiger Hills standings

A five point night from Sean Kubas, powered the Gladstone Lakers to a 10-5 win over the MacGregor Wild on Saturday, Dec. 1, in Tiger Hills Hockey League (THHL) action. Kubas had three goals and a pair of assists, while teammate Jordon Geddes had a four point night (1 goal - 3 assists). MacGregor’s Dustin Bruce lead the way for the Wild, with a pair of goals.
