Fall to Virden Oil Capitals 6-2

The numbers suggest that the 2017-2018 MJHL regular season was a step in the right direction for the Neepawa Natives. Over the course of 60 games, the club scored 47 more goals, than they’d accumulated in the previous year (215 vs. 173). They also generated more wins (25 vs. 21) and increased their points total in the league standings by six (54 pts. vs 48 pts.). By all these measures, the 2017-2018 MJHL regular season was more successful than 2016-2017. So why doesn’t it feel that way?

Natives eliminated from playoff contention

The playoff dreams of the Neepawa Natives have been iced, after a 3-2 loss to the Winnipeg Blues on Wednesday, Feb. 28. With the defeat, the Natives were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, unable to catch the eight place Swan Valley Stampeders before the end of the regular season.

Yellowhead Chiefs weekend report

The Yellowhead Bantam Chiefs put in a strong effort at the Rural Provincial Championship, recently held in Killarney. The Chiefs made it all the way to the bronze medal game, where they were narrowly defeated, by a 3-2 score. Mitchell Collyer of Onanole and Foxwarren’s Colby Wotton scored for the Chiefs in that game.
