Manitoba’s best coaches were recently recognized for their leadership and a familiar local name was amongst those that were honoured. John Csversko of Neepawa recently received the Global News Active for Life Award at the 2018 Coaching Manitoba Impact Awards in Winnipeg. Csversko was recognized for his dedication and contributions to the sport of curling.

The Neepawa Novas Gymnastics Club recently closed out their competitive season at the Regional Stream Provincial Championship. The event was held Apr. 20-22 in Swan River and hosted by the Swan Valley Cheetahs Gymnastics Club.

The recent cool temperatures aren’t expected to chill the enthusiasm of local golfers who are finally getting back out on the greens. The Neepawa Golf & Country Club (NGCC) has confirmed it will open for the season on Thursday, May. 3. As of Tuesday, May 1, it was expected that all 18 holes would be available for play heading into the weekend.

Neepawa’s Ice Prec*Ice synchronized skating club came to a close on Saturday, Mar. 17 when they attended the Crocus Invitational Synchronized Skating Competition in Souris.

Gladstone Lakers falter at Provincials

A pair of losses at the Manitoba Senior “A” Hockey Championship have the Gladstone Lakers needing a lot of help to make it into the final on Sunday, Apr. 8. Gladstone, who is representing the Tiger Hills Hockey League, opened up the tournament with a 1-0 loss to the Grandview Comets on Thursday, Mar. 29. Devon Jakeman scored the only goal of the night, on a power-play chance early in the third period. The Comets are representing the North Central Hockey League at this event.
