The Neepawa Natives’ roster continues to evolve, as the club has made a pair of player acquisitions at the MJHL Dec.1 roster deadline.  First, the team picked up forward Mackenzie Mindus (1998) from the AJHL’s Drayton Valley Thunder in exchange for future considerations. Minus has played 24 games thus far this season, generating two points (one goal - one assist)

In a media release on the team’s website, Natives general manager Myles Cathcart said that the 18-year-old, who is from Edmonton, AB, has a great energy to his game.

“[Mindus] has a strong work ethic and is a tenacious forward when pursuing the puck.  He has experience at the junior level that helps round out the forwards,” stated Cathcart.

In a second move in advance of the deadline, Neepawa acquired forward Nicholas Schultze (1997) from the Melfort Mustangs of the SJHL for future considerations.   Schultze has four points (two goals - two assist) in 26 games this season with Melfort. Cathcart said that the 19-year-old, who hails from San Diego, CA, brings depth to the forward unit.

“[Schultze] is a quick centre who plays in all three zones.  He will help provide depth scoring for the team,” noted Cathcart.

Earlier in the week, the Neepawa Natives also picked up Josh Sielsky from the Portage Terriers.
