Chairperson, Rapid City Golf Course

Rapid City Golf Course committee took an opportunity this summer to thank Rivers and Area Community Foundation (RACF) for awarding a $2,500 grant to Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation to provide an AED (automatic external defibrillator) for their golf course. The sign for the AED will be placed outside the clubhouse so that all in the community will know it is available in case an emergency arises. Part of RACF’s mission is to provide some financial assistance through grants with projects through the area.

Rivers and Area Community Foundation was started with a bequest from Bernard and Iola Goekoop; it now has two other funds under its umbrella: The Society of Friends of Rivers Collegiate and the Leonard and Gladys Burt Fund. The interest on the capital is spent according to Canada Revenue Agency rules, and our granting process is held once a year. Watch for our ad in next week’s Rivers Banner regarding the grant application process. Donations to the fund are made through many ways such as memorial donations, birthdays, anniversaries and so on. All donations are given charitable tax receipts. To learn more about RACF, please visit www.riverareacommunityfoundation.org.
