The “Drive for 500” Neepawa Natives season ticket campaign has gotten off to a solid start.

A local group of businesses and fans, led by Pat Guilbert, have spearheaded the season ticket campaign and in its early stages, the group has sold around 220 season tickets, according to a recent release issued by the Manitoba Junior Hockey League club.

The season ticket sales are an increase from a year ago.

“We all wanted to help the hockey club as it is an important part of the community of Neepawa and surrounding area," said Guilbert in the release. "Hockey is important to the community and this was a way many of us could give back."

The promotion, which consists of Natives season tickets at a flat rate of $150 each, will continue for the next couple of months for those that are interested in purchasing.

After the promotion is over, the season tickets will then be over $220 to purchase. Payment plans are also available for families that do not want to pay all at once.” states Guilbert.

“We strongly believe in a vibrant community-based organization. Our players are extremely busy within the community in a variety of ways”, said Natives general manager Myles Cathcart.  “The players work at local businesses, help with volunteer efforts throughout the season, help at schools, breakfast club, etc.

"The season ticket promotion is a way for the organization to say thanks to everyone who has helped us succeed over the past 25 years. We all need to work together to keep the team and town thriving”, he continued.
