The Yellowhead Centre hosted a night of professional wrestling on Thursday as the Canadian Wrestling Elite "Last Action Hero Tour" was in Neepawa.

Approximately 100 wrestling fans from the area witnessed a card which included several matches, such as WWE/NXT star Chris Hero, the "Knock Out Artist", defeating CWE champion Heavy Metal by disqualification. Meanwhile, the "Zombie Hunter" Mentallo pinned Sigmon to advance in the Elite Eight Tournament. Another match saw the "Hotshot" Danny Duggan battle "The Gift" Jason Kincaid in what ended up being a no contest after outside interference.

"It was a great show with some real top notch matches," said Danny Warren, general manager of CWE.

The event also included a wrestling storyline which saw Neepawa's own Derek Pearson get involved. The founder of the boxing club in Neepawa was involved in an 'angle' which had the wrestler Bobby "The Rebel" Collins call Pearson into the ring to confront him regarding an 'incident' that took place at a previous CWE show in Neepawa. The confrontation between the two means there could be another CWE event coming to Neepawa sometime soon.

"Once [I was] in the ring, the Rebel challenged me, but I refused and attempted to leave the ring in good sportsmanship," Pearson explained. "That's when the Rebel hit me from behind with a steel chair multiple times and then targeted my right arm with his confederate flag pole. After several shots, the Rebel issued another challenge this fall to which I accepted.

"I am a huge fan of combat sports and the combat arts, so naturally, I am a big pro wrestling fan, and was honoured when the CWE asked me to be a part of the Neepawa card," he continued with a smile.

"As for the future, the Rebel called me out for a match this fall, and if he still wants a piece of me next time the CWE hits Neepawa, it's on," he concluded.

The CWE has come to Neepawa several times now and each stop has included former WWE stars, such as Gene Snitsky and Rhyno.

The CWE will be in Virden on July 22 and in Souris on July 23.
