Neepawa's Matt Lowry and the Evansville IceMen are currently in the midst of a hunt for a playoff spot in the East Coast Hockey League.

Lowry and the IceMen currently sit in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, two points out of a playoff spot. However, the two teams in front of the IceMen who are also battling for the eighth and final playoff position have two games in hand.

Lowry has played in 47 games with the IceMen this year, scoring 15 goals and 35 points. The 26-year-old forward rejoined the IceMen for a second time late January after he was released from his professional tryout contract by the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

He played in 19 games with the Tigers, scoring seven goals and 15 points.

The IceMen have six games remaining on their schedule. The club's next game is on Saturday in Orlando against the Solar Bears.

Lowry began the season with the ECHL's Greenville Road Warriors, but was traded to Evansville in the preseason. He also had a brief AHL stint with the Rockford IceHogs this season as well.

He graduated from the University of Manitoba men's hockey program last February where he spent the majority of last year and the 2011-2012 season with the men's hockey team.

Lowry played three full seasons in the Western Hockey League from 2006-2009 with the Medicine Hat Tigers and the Wheat Kings.

He is also a former member of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Neepawa Natives.
