The Neepawa Tigers remain alive and kicking in the Westman High School Hockey League playoffs.

Down 1-0 in their best-of-three first round playoff series to the Vincent Massey Vikings, the Tigers were able to rebound on Tuesday night, defeating the Brandon-based high school team 6-3 to tie the series, forcing a third and deciding contest on Wednesday night in Neepawa.

Trent Nelson and Shane Levandosky each scored twice for the Tigers in the win. Preston James and Brett McKinnon scored the other tallies for Neepawa, who dropped a 5-4 decision to Vincent Massey in Game 1 of the series on Sunday.

"This was an important game," said Tigers head coach Gary Salmon. "It was rewarding to see some great offence from the team. I was especially impressed with the game that Trent [Nelson], Brett [McKinnon] and Brendan [Harris] played. That line played a big part in tonight's win.

"We will need that kind of success from the entire squad, if we want to be contending for championships," he continued.

Salmon also credited the play of Tigers netminder Brady Plett, saying the goaltender played one of his best games of the season en route to the victory.

Game time for Wednesday's contest at the Yellowhead Centre is 6:00 p.m.
