Curl Manitoba and Sportsnet have signed a new 10-year agreement that will see Sportsnet be the broadcast home of both the Manitoba men’s and women’s provincial championships.
Coverage begins on Sportsnet in January with the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Stonewall. Sportsnet will broadcast the semi-finals and championship final, beginning on Saturday, Jan. 26.
Sportsnet will continue its provincial coverage with the Safeway Championship from the Yellowhead Arena in Neepawa. Coverage will include the semi-finals and championship final, with the first semi-final taking place Saturday, Feb. 9.
“We are pleased to expand our coverage of men’s and women’s coverage in Manitoba and across Canada.” said Shane Ray, executive director of Curl Manitoba. “Sportsnet has shown a commitment to the sport of curling and we look forward to working with them to grow the sport into the future.”
This agreement marks the first time that the Manitoba women’s provincial championship will be broadcast on a major television network.
The agreement will see events broadcast on Sportsnet West and or Sportsnet One. The exact schedules and channels will be released each season.
