MSBL: Farmers fall to Marlins

The early season struggles continued for the Neepawa Farmers on Wednesday night.

The Manitoba Senior Baseball League club lost 7-2 to the Brandon Marlins at Andrews Field.

Marlins pitcher Paul Thompson was terrific, allowing only two hits, while striking out 11 Farmers batters over six scoreless innings. Jeff White and Jeff White closed up shop on the mound to finish the contest for Brandon.

Jason Vinnell took the loss for Neepawa, giving up five runs on nine hits and four walks over six innings, with four strikeouts.

Nolan Jago went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Pat Vandoorne was 2-for-3 with four steals, a run and an RBI for Brandon.

Plumas product Zac Yandeau went 3-for-4 with two doubles to lead the Farmers offensively.

The Farmers, who now sit with an 0-3 record, host the Brandon Cloverleafs on Friday night.
