Hockey Manitoba is pleased to launch a special stick giveaway as part of the organization's 100th anniversary celebrations in the 2014-15 season. All registered players from across the province born in 2008 and 2009 will receive a free Reebok hockey stick with a Sidney Crosby pattern, courtesy of Hockey Manitoba. Eligible members will be able to pick up their stick at one of two Royal Sports locations in Winnipeg until Dec. 31.

Eligible players must ensure the following information is provided to Royal Sports at time of pick-up. Proof of registration document with their appropriate minor hockey association for the 2014-15 season which must include the following details: first and last name, year of birth, association the player is registered with, confirmation of registration for the 2014-15 season.

As an added bonus to help families across Manitoba, Royal Sports and Hockey Manitoba will also provide a 25 per cent discount on regular priced hockey gear for the eligible player at time of the individual stick pickup.

Hockey Manitoba’s president Bill Whitehead says, "We're happy to provide our members this special giveaway program to not only celebrate our 100th anniversary but to also ensure we can assist in alleviating some costs associated with playing our great sport."

The giveaway program is designed for individual pickup only, a representative will not be eligible to pick up sticks for an entire team or group of players. After Dec. 31, minor hockey associations outside of Winnipeg will be eligible to assign a representative to pick up any remaining sticks for eligible players within their association. (Hockey Manitoba will develop a list for each rural association with the remaining eligible players.)

Hockey Manitoba also recognizes Royal Sports (official supplier of Hockey Manitoba) and Reebok-CCM Hockey (official hockey gear of Hockey Manitoba) for their exceptional contributions in delivering this special initiative. For more information about the free hockey stick giveaway (including the voucher needed for the free stick) or other anniversary events please visit www.hockeymanitoba.ca/100.
