There are a great deal of interesting and important events happening at Rivers United Church. First of all, the Outreach and Pastoral Care Committee  “Green Luncheon” on March 15 was very well supported. A total of $368 was forwarded to Amnesty International to promote global social justice.

We have accepted the Riverdale Harvest challenge of 40 cans of food for 40 days. Please bring donations of canned fish, meat, fruit and vegetables the next two Sundays for our local food bank.

Maundy Thursday service will be held on April 2 at 7 p.m., followed by choir practice. A Good Friday service will be held at 10 a.m. on April 3 at St. James’ Anglican Church. Please join us for Easter Sunday service on April 5 at 11 a.m. The choir has prepared special Easter music and ladies of the congregation are encouraged to wear their Easter bonnets!

The JNAC committee has circulated a draft of the proposed new Mission and Purpose Statement and Vision of Rivers United Chiurch to the congregation. Any suggestions or concerns regarding the draft can be given to committee chairperson Dianne Kowalchuk. The next JNAC meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7 at 7 p.m.

Our spring thrift sale will be held April 23-25. Donations of quality used clothing, toys, housewares, books, games, etc. are always very much appreciated and can be dropped off in the basement of the church. A bake sale will also take place on Saturday, April 25.

We would like to wish Phyllis Leslie a very happy 90th birthday, which will be celebrated at the church on Saturday, April 4.

Vacation Bible camp dates have been set for Aug. 10-14. Additional volunteers will be needed due to the popularity of this event! More information will be available in the upcoming months.
