Keith Vassell, head coach of the Brandon University men's basketball program watches as his team loses its last game of the season and its third game in a row, 96-88 to Calgary in front of a home crowd at the BU Gym. The Bobcats wound up finishing the 2009-2010 CIS season with a 7-13 record – the first losing record for the 'Cats since the 2005-2006 season. At that point in time, Vassell had no idea what would transpire in the coming weeks and months ahead.

myWestman.ca Brandon product Mark Schneider will turn 20 in November and could be joining seven other players of the same age in August when Wheat Kings training camp begins. Western Hockey League clubs are permitted to carry only three 20-year olds, so Schneider, a defenceman, will be in the fight of his life as he hopes to stick with a club that made the Memorial Cup final last May in his hometown. Schneider has never been shy around the local media and is considered by many teammates as the funniest guy on the squad. He sat down with myWestman.ca to talk about his experience in the Memorial Cup tournament, pranks he's pulled on teammates and who he thinks would play the part of Kelly McCrimmon in a movie.
