Budget cuts to impact Riding Mountain National Park

The funding cuts to Parks Canada included in this year’s federal budget will have an impact on Riding Mountain National Park (RMNP), but changes won’t take effect until next fall at the earliest. Riding Mountain National Park superintendent Robert Sheldon said that the changes will be felt in the winter and shoulder seasons, but that “visitors in the summer will see no change”. Read more

Fire destroys Ste. Rose home

Since their son Larsen, now two, was diagnosed with leukaemia last August, the Brunel family has been spending a lot of time away from their home in Ste. Rose du Lac. Since last summer, Larsen has relapsed a few times and one of these relapses happened in the last week of April, so parents Rob and Erin took Larsen back into the Children's Hospital in Winnipeg. Citizens sign up to save Neepawa's Roxy Theatre

Neepawa and area residents showed their support for the Roxy Theatre last week. The theatre is facing costly upgrades to its projection system and the April 25 meeting was to gauge community support  for the theatre’s continued operation and to come up with fundraising ideas. Read more
