NACTV films events all over Neepawa, including the annual Rotary TV Auction (pictured). This may soon end however, as the station is facing possible closure in mid-November.

NACTV president, CEO and acting general manager Ivan Traill has declared his intention to retire. His term as president and CEO is up this fall, at the next annual general meeting and he has decided not to seek re-election. At that time, he will also resign as the TV station’s acting general manager.

With this news and financial losses associated with the station’s move last year, the board faced a tough decision. At the Monday, Sept. 19 NACTV meeting, the board passed a motion to cease operations and to recommend to the membership at its upcoming AGM that NACTV cease to function as a television station, unless another group is willing to take over, or financing can be found to hire a general manager to carry on after Traill’s departure.

The AGM will be held at the Neepawa Library Meeting Room at 7 pm Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016.  The fate of NACTV will be decided at that time. The board has directed the acting general manager to give the two employees their notice, so that if NACTV is to close on Nov. 15, there would be no impediment to that directive.
