On Saturday, at approximately 8:27 p.m., Blue Hills RCMP responded to a call of an ATV collision at the Rivers Reservoir spillway, approximately 29 kilometres northwest of Brandon near Rivers.

Initial investigation shows a 58-year-old woman from Rivers, who attempted to drive down an embankment by the Rivers Reservoir spillway.  She lost control of the ATV, striking a 39-year-old male from Brandon, who was fishing at that location. The female was pronounced deceased on scene. The male was knocked into the water, which had a significant current.

Search and rescue efforts were made to locate the man. At this time, he has still not been located. He is presumed drowned. Search efforts are ongoing.

It does not appear alcohol was a factor. It is believed the driver of the ATV was wearing a helmet.
