At the June 17 Neepawa council meeting, council approved bylaw number 3141, which will repeal over 200 outdated bylaws.

The list, which is available through the town office, includes some bylaws over 100 years old.  The oldest, which regulates and governs the office and duties of the assessor, goes back to March 7, 1888. There are four bylaws that are undated.

Many of the bylaws being repealed, such as those covering telephone rates, motor vehicle traffic and dairies, apply to areas that are now governed by other levels of government. Others are remnants of a past time, such as the February 1933 bylaw regarding the licensing of drays.

The remainder of the bylaws cover tax discounts and council indemnities for a certain year and were never repealed or covered the employment of a person no longer employed by the town.
