Neepawa council holds public hearing

Neepawa council held a public hearing regarding a piece of property owned by Noreen Hollier.

A variation was requested to reduce the minimum size requirement of the lot. There were no objections and the variation was granted. The property is being purchased by the Town of Neepawa to square off the boundaries of the earlier purchased CN land.

•Councillor Pottinger, who represents the Town on the HAND board introduced Mary Ann Nylen. Nylen is headng up an effort to hold an Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Pottinger praised the efforts of the group last year and Nylen urged everyone to come out for an family day at the park on June 15.

•Council has requested that a bylaw be developed to change some commercial property facing Brown Avenue from commercial to residential.

•Council approved submitting an application to the province for funds under the Municipal Road Improvement Fund to help offset costs of upgrades to Ellen Street.

•Council approved a number of grants to local groups and responded favourably to a the regular list of request for assistance from the Neepawa Lily Festival.

•Council asked staff to develop a budget and a process for establishing a board of revision that would include citizen participation on the board. The board of revision hears appeals to assessments in the Town of Neepawa.
