On Wednesday evening, RCMP officers in Dauphin were called to a Main Street gas station after a robbery occurred.

Officers learned that a lone male had entered the store, grabbed a fire extinguisher and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk complied with the demand and turned over money from the cash register. The male then fled the scene on foot. Neither the clerk nor a customer who was in the store at the time was injured.

Investigators quickly identified a suspect from the description given by the clerk and from viewing surveillance video from the store. Approximately 45 minutes later, the suspect was located at a business in the west end of  Dauphin and was arrested without incident. A quantity of cash was seized from him upon his arrest.

Trevor Colin Severite, 30, from the Valley River First Nation, has been charged with robbery and is scheduled to appear in Court in Dauphin on Thursday.
