Accident on Highway 16 (update)

At around 11 a.m. on Friday morning, emergency crews travelled to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Highway 16, west of Gladstone. 

The incident happened at the intersection of the highway and Road 74. Several local media outlets are reporting that there have been injuries, however it's unknown as of yet (1:45 p.m.) as to how serious they are. 

The road has since been closed and there is a detour. 

Police are currently investigating the matter. 

(Update: 6:00 p.m. Friday)

The police state that a 69-year-old man by the name of Richard Gutowski was pronounced dead at the scene. His car spun out of control and ended up hitting a pickup truck travelling west-bound. Two other people were injured in the crash.
