Four couples have been nominated and will be competing at the Manitoba's Outstanding Young Farmers 2014 event early February.

Yan Lafond (St Jean Baptiste), Erick Cluck and Jodi Griffith, Myron and Jill Krahn as well as Paul and Kyla Devloo have completed a lengthy nomination form and will appear before a panel of judges on Saturday, Feb. 8 in Elkhorn with the winner representing the province at the national event in November in Quebec City.

According to a release, Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers’ program is an annual competition to recognize farmers that exemplify excellence in their profession and promote the tremendous contribution of agriculture.

The event is open to participants 18-39 years of age who make the majority of income from on-farm sources. Participants are selected from seven regions across Canada, with two national winners chosen each year.
