After two years of work with an advisory board as well as community members, Riding Mountain National Park is ready to unveil the draft version of their east escarpment area strategy. The draft plan will be unveiled at open houses held in various communities throughout the region from Nov. 5 to 15.
The Escarpment of Riding Mountain runs along the eastern boundary of the park and the
Area Strategy is being developed to ensure visitors have genuine opportunities to discover, experience and learn about it, while protecting it for future generations.
The meetings will also offer people a chance to share their knowledge of the area as well as what they’d like to see in the future.
The area offers spectacular vistas, challenging terrain, rich heritage and diverse vegetation and wildlife. The goal of the strategy is to create action both inside the park and in the surrounding area through complimentary experiences.
The newly updated park website includes information about the plan, open house dates as well as an opportunity for people to send comments by email.
