Rapid City 4-H Beef Club held its monthly meeting  on Feb. 14 at leader Lesley Hedley’s home. President Wyatt Inglis called the meeting to order. Thijs VandeLangemheen started the club pledge.  Secretary Brooklyn Hedley asked the roll call then gave minutes from last meeting. James Reid gave the treasurer’s report.

Under old business we learned we can put a new sign, to replace the old one, on the same place; we will do this later on this year.

This gave a report on the Wheat King game held Feb 10; Enns Bros supported all 4-H clubs by providing tickets for the game.

A new speech night was held on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at the fire hall in Rapid City. Jolie Bootsman and Chelsey Horn were our judges. District communications will be held March 10 at Minnedosa Collegiate.

Our club will hold the next meeting on March 11 in conjunction with our weigh day at Hedley’s. We will have a potluck lunch afterwards. The scale will be booked and picked up the same day.

Wilco van Meijl, an employee of Farm Credit Canada (FCC), attended our meeting to present the club a cheque for $500. FCC is a 4-H supporter and hands out grants every year to 4-H clubs that apply. Wilco is also a past member of our club, who told the members about getting an education and using their 4-H background to move forward later in life. The club is very grateful to FCC for their generous donation of money.

The meeting was adjourned by Gavin Reid. The club then enjoyed birthday cake in honour of club leader Lesley Hedley.
