On any given game night, it’s hard to guess exactly which version of the Neepawa Natives will be hitting the ice. Will it be the world-beaters, who jumped out to a 6-2-1 record to start the MJHL season and appeared the equal of the very best teams of the league. Or will it be the disorganized unit that currently sits in a playoff position, but does not appear to be a playoff caliber team. On Friday, Nov. 3, the latter of those two options reared its ugly head, on the way to a 6-3 loss to the Winnipeg Blues.

Even my children were surprised and did not think their Mom will be in a hurry to move closer to her kids. When we get in touch with people and do things together we are bound to make friends.

A phrase from the book on my bedside, ‘Ride the Rising Wind, One Woman’s Journey Across Canada’, by Barbara Kingscote echoed and re-echoed in my thoughts and musings. [ I digress, but it isn’t often that a compelling book stays as long as this one has – I have been busy and busier!] This time the author is making her way across Ontario, waiting to see the prairies. She has chosen to stop at a small home, tucked in a clearing in the bush. The scent of a wood smoke smudge, the light from a window, drew her in. she ‘stepped across the threshold of my own hesitation into a lamp lit kitchen’.
